Everyone has their beauty comfort zone and mine is cream eyeshadow. I love glamorous makeup but the reality is I don’t always have the time and occasion for it. My mornings are precious and I only slate 15 minutes for my beauty routine. If it comes down to taking the time for a smokey eye or having my morning coffee, morning coffee wins every time. Hence my love for cream eyeshadow; a few taps, pats and dabs and I have a perfectly blended neutral or pop of colour depending on what lips I’m feeling that day. Cream eyeshadows have come a long way and no longer offer only a flat finish.
Dior’s Diorshow Fusion Mono Eyeshadow creates multidimensional, light-reflecting eyes in a single step. Its mousse-gel texture blends easily with the fingertips or the enclosed applicator. The eyeshadow illuminates the eye with a metallic finish and is available in eight iridescent shades. –Dior
The DIOR Diorshow Fusion Mono Long-Wear Professional Mirror-Shine Eyeshadows (seriously can brands STOP with long names now? PLEASE.) from the Mystic Metallics Fall/Winter collection are the next generation of cream products. They are almost identical to the Chanel Illusion D’Ombre formula comparing texture, blendability, pay off and finish. The only reasons why I like the Dior shades a smidgen more is that they stay on a couple of hours longer without a primer and they are $10 cheaper a pop. Both ranges have a very similar colour range so this is going to come down to personal preference and brand loyalty for most people.

I don’t know why my favourite shade Chimere is not available on the Sephora website when they had the tester in store. I contacted their customer service and they seemed to think that they were not selling that shade. If you see it in-store, snatch it up because it is the perfect every day neutral. I picked up all of my shades at my favourite Dior counter at The Bay, but they are also available at Holt Renfrew if you have tolerance for inconsistent customer service in the beauty department (retracting my claws now). The Bay has all of the shades in-store but only 4 are available online.

The Fusion Mono Eyeshadows have been my favourite beauty purchase for Fall 2013. They may not be revolutionary since they proceed Chanel Illusion D’Ombre and Armani Eyes To Kill, but their performance is outstanding and the colours are plain and simply gorgeous. If you don’t like shimmer then I would definitely steer clear, but I think they are completely appropriate for day wear if you use a light touch and blend for a sheerer application. There is a depth to each colour and dimensionality that is sophisticated and refined.
